Slackliners balance between flying hot air balloons at 2,500 meters setting new world record
RIEDERING, Germany (KMID/KPEJ)- Two German friends set a new world record after balancing on a slackline that stretched between two flying hot air balloons at a height of 2,500 meters.
Slackliners Friedi Kuehne and Lukas Irmler made their mark in the new world records on Saturday, November 9.
“It feels amazing to have finally broken the world record. We’ve been excited about it for so long and to have finally done it now. It is actually a bit surreal,” Kuehne said.

According to the International Slackline Association, Kuehne and Irmler were 600 meters higher than the previous record set in Brazil, in 2021 at 1,900 meters.
The two friends are no strangers to the Slackline competitive scene and already hold several world records.
For example, in 2019 Irmler covered the longest distance in the world on a slackline and traveled two kilometers. And Kuehne is best known for his records in “highlining” or balancing on high ropes- without a safety device.
