Hostages released by Hamas on first day of ceasefire leave hospital
Three hostages released by the Palestinian militant group Hamas one week ago have been discharged from hospital, the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv said on Sunday.
Hamas freed the three civilian women — Romi Gonen, 24, Emily Damari, 28, and Doron Steinbrecher, 31 — on January 19, the first day of the hostage-ceasefire deal with Israel.
They had been kidnapped from southern Israel on October 7, 2023 and held in captivity for 471 days. The hospital said the three were discharged after undergoing a series of examinations.
There was initially no information on where the women will be staying after their week in hospital. All of the released hostages are expected to undergo a lengthy rehabilitation process.
On Saturday, four Israeli female soldiers were released by Hamas and taken to a different hospital near Tel Aviv.
