Arrests made in Germany and Poland for suspected right-wing extremism
The German Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office said on Tuesday that eight suspected members of an extreme right-wing terrorist organization have been arrested in the eastern German state of Saxony and Poland.
Around 20 properties are also being searched, the authorities said. Searches are also taking place in Austria.
The prosecutor’s office suspects the defendants of belonging to the “Saxon Separatists,” a group they believe to have been formed in November 2020 at the latest.
“This is a militant group consisting of 15 to 20 people, whose ideology is characterized by racist, anti-Semitic and, in part apocalyptic ideas,” a statement released by the prosecutor’s office said.
