Several loud explosions have been heard in Iran’s capital Tehran, according to state TV reports.

Blasts have also been heard in the Damascus countryside and central region.

There has been no official comment about the source of explosions.

However, reports by news site Axios – citing two sources – said Israel had carried out the strikes.

Israel has been planning a response to a ballistic-missile barrage carried out by Iran on 1 October – Tehran’s second direct attack on Israel in six months.

Iranian authorities have warned Israel against launching an attack, saying any strike on Iran would be met with a stronger retaliation.
